Demon Slayer: Synopsis

Tanjiro Kamado returns home to find his family brutally killed. The only one left barely alive is his sister, Nezuko Kamado. Determined to save her, Tanjiro carries her through the snow to treat her. However, he is shocked to know that Nezuko has transformed into a demon. With the interference of a mysterious man, Giyuu Tomioka, he finds out that the man responsible for the tragedy Muzan, a demon. Giyuu is revealed to be a Demon Slayer, elite warriors in the shadows who kill demons. He decides to kill Nezuko but he is stopped by Tanjiro who is determined to protect his sister. However, Giyuu quickly gives up on his idea when he notices the difference in Nezuko as she tries to save Tanjiro instead of trying to kill him. Tanjiro swears revenge on his family and sets out to enroll in the Demon Slayer Corps. He meets fellow Demon Slayers Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibara as they head together to kill demons. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train– Response In Japan

The recent movie of the Demon Slayer franchise was released on 16 October 2020 in Japan. The movie sold tickets worth 365 million USD. Demon Slayer: Mugen Train broke the records set by the Academic Award-winning movie, Spirited away. The movie has now become the highest-grossing movie in Japan. By the end of 2020, the franchise had sales worth ¥270 billion. The movie had earned US$456,140,000 in the Box Office worldwide. In 2021, the movie won the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year. It also won the Japan Academy Prize for Popularity Award – The most popular film. Additionally,  Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina won the Japan Academy Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Music for the movie.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train US Opening

After the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was originally released in October 2020, finally, the movie was available for international viewers. On 23 April 2021, the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train had its US opening. As per the reports by Funimation, the movie had earned US$21,144,800 in the US Box Office. This makes Demon: Slayer the second-highest US Opening for an animated film. The film stands behind only Mortal Kombat, which had earned approximately 23 million USD in the US Box Office. However, Demon slayer did surpass the 2004 Chinese film, Hero had earned $17.8m. This makes Demon Slayer: Mugen Train stand as the highest US Opening for a foreign film.
