At the end of Avengers: Endgame, as we all remember, Steve had gone back in time to spend his life with Peggy Carter. Now, he had grown old and had passed on the mantle/shield of Captain America to Sam Wilson. But, Sam couldn’t picture the shield belonging to him.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 1 Episode 1 Recap
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 1 Episode 1 is titled “New World Order.” Six months have passed after billions of people have come back from the blip. The world seems to have divided as Sam Wilson starts working with the U.S. Air Force. In the episode we see, the Falcon deployed on a mission to stop the terrorist group LAF. They had kidnapped Captain Vasant and were proceeding towards the borders. Sam works with the support from Lieutenant Joaquin Torres to put a stop to them and get back the hostage.
Sam Wilson
Wilson heads back to Washington DC, where he commemorates Steve’s memory while giving the shield back to the US Government. After this, Wilson heads back to his sister’s home in Louisiana. During the blip, she had gone through a lot and was therefore financially very unstable. To solve her monetary issues, she wanted to sell off their family boat, the idea for which Sam was against. In Sam’s eyes, the boat was a family legacy. Therefore, he didn’t want to sell it. So he tries and convinces his sister Sarah to try and help her, but unfortunately, when they go to the bank, their loan request gets cancelled. James Barnes
Bucky Barnes was going through his own struggles. Being a person who spent the majority of his years fighting, he had now stopped and yearned for peace. He was now pardoned for his crimes and was to regularly keep his mental health in check by attending government-mandated therapy. The issue with him is that he is prone to get nightmares of what he had done, which his counsellor tries to help him with. In the nightmare, we see Winter Soldier killing off some people, at the end, of which he kills an innocent bystander. Barnes seems uninterested in sharing his thoughts with the counsellor. But, he finally gives in, claiming as to how he was trying to make amends for his last self. For this, he was to follow three special rules. After his visit, we follow him as we get to see him in his normal life. We find out that he spends his Wednesdays having meals with a man called Yori Nakajima at Izzy’s. They both have their food while Yori reminisces about the death of his son. Soon after, Yori sets James on a date with a waitress present at the bar. James later does go for this date, and during this, she speaks to him about Yori and his son. Just then, Bucky runs off somewhere. A little later, we find out that he had gone to Yori, and there we are able to figure out that Bucky was the one who killed Yori’s son, and he was only there to make amends but simply cannot bring himself to say it to Yori.
The Flag-Smashers
There was a new terrorist organisation formed called the Flag-Smashers. They are a group of people who believed that the time during the blip was ideal. Therefore they try to make the world borderless, uniting all the nations as one. The name Flag-Smashers was a symbolism to destroy the meaning of flags and territories. Lieutenant Joaquin Torres was up for this investigation and even informed of his findings Sam before he had left for Washington DC. Torres heads off to a Flag-Smashers meeting place in Switzerland. There he tries to record their actions. Being unaware of what he was supposed to be doing, he follows others to simply attain and wear a mask. Just then, Torres receives a message on his phone to run when a big man wearing a mask appears. He seems to have stolen something from the bank, and between the chaos, he mixes with the crowd. As he was walking away, he started beating someone up, so Torres tried to arrest him. But being overpowered, the Flag-Smasher throws Torres down to curb stomp him, thus knocking him out. Just after Torres gains consciousness, he contacts Sam and shows him the footage of Flag-Smashers and gives any info he can on them.
The New Captain America/US Agent
Just as Sam deals with the disappointment he faced at the bank and tried to make head and toe of the Flag-Smashers, Sarah enters the room. She is quick to turn on the news on television as something seems to be happening. It was a US Government official who was giving a speech on how the United States needed a new hero and representative for this perilous time. For this, the Department of Defense and the Commander-in-Chief picked a new candidate to don the symbol of hope. The government announced the arrival of the new Captain America, John Walker.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 1 Episode 2 Preview
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Season 1 Episode 2 should follow Sam as he tries to deal with the choice for the new Captain America. Steve was a very close friend of his, and to see his mantle taken up by someone unknown may affect him dearly. While dealing with this situation, he must also look into the activities of the Flag-Smashers and put a stop to them. One thing that had been in our minds is how James will meet up with Sam, the future episodes, if not the next episode, must follow up with this. Lastly, Baron Zemo is yet to appear in the show, and we should be expecting his appearances in future episodes as well. The most likely outcome would be that Sam and James are recruited by an organisation to put a stop to the Flag-Smashers, during which they meet Zemo.
